The shop owner's tape trick made me abandon my layer system
I spent three years doing multi-layer masking on every cabinet job, two coats of tape and a knife pass for crisp lines. Last month a shop owner in Spokane watched me prep a kitchen and asked why I was wasting 20 minutes per door. He just laid one strip of painter's tape, folded the edge over itself, and pulled it tight before spraying. I tried it on the next job, a 14-door pantry unit, and cut my prep time nearly in half.
