Picked up an old drafting board at an estate sale last weekend
I found a vintage drafting board from the 70s for $40 at an estate sale out in the suburbs. Figured I'd try using it instead of my computer for a layout this week. My lines came out way cleaner than I expected, and I didn't realize how much I rush on CAD until I had to actually slow down with a pencil. Anyone else ever go back to manual drafting and get surprised by the results?

Noah has a fair point there. Manual drafting is not for everyone and it definitely comes with its own frustrations. Sometimes the old way just makes you appreciate the tools we have now.

Hold on though, I've actually gone the opposite way with this. A couple years ago I tried to force myself to use pencils and triangles for a project and all it did was make me hate drawing. My elbows got sore from leaning over the board and the eraser dust got everywhere. Plus with CAD I can undo a mistake in half a second instead of having to carefully erase and re-draw a whole line that might have been slightly crooked. Your mileage may vary but for me the computer lets me take more risks without worrying about ruining a whole sheet.
