Hit 20 years drafting today and it snuck up on me
I was just cleaning out my old desk drawer and found my first set of blueprints from 2004. Has anyone else had a moment where the years just kind of piled up without you noticing?

Man I found my old 2003 print of a 2-story residential job last week and the paper was literally crumbling. 20 years is a weird number because you dont feel old until you realize that blueprint is old enough to vote. The CAD file was on a 3.5 inch floppy too, which basically qualifies me as a digital archaeologist at this point. My drafting pencil from back then still works but the eraser is basically just a nub of rock hard rubber now. Guess the years snuck up on both of us.

Found my old drafting stool from college last month, thing creaks so bad now it sounds like a horror movie soundtrack every time I sit down. Took a look at my first set of prints from 2004 and honestly they look like a kindergartner's art project compared to what I do now. The title block was hand-lettered because apparently I thought I was better than the lettering template. That nub of an eraser on your pencil is basically a museum piece at this point, same as my old scale ruler that’s all chewed up from me using it as a backscratcher. We're basically antiques in the making.
