Got called out by a GC at a job site last week for my line weights being off

I was laying out some MEP rough-ins for a retail build in Austin and the foreman pulled me aside to point out my ductwork lines were too heavy compared to the structural grid. Has anyone else had to adjust their pen settings mid-career because a contractor couldn't read your plans?

Yeah, I used to blow that off but contractors are the ones building it.

Wait, do you really think contractors are the ones actually making the key decisions though? I've seen plenty of times where the architects and engineers end up changing things mid-project, @emma_smith, and the contractors just have to follow those new plans. Sure, they're the ones swinging the hammers, but the real design choices (the stuff that actually matters for how the building ends up) usually come from the people drawing it up first. I guess it depends on the job though - some contractors have way more say than others.
