Bought a fancy digital caliper for drafting and it died after 3 weeks
Saw a nice Mitutoyo digital caliper on sale for $80 and figured it would be a good upgrade from my old plastic one. Worked great for exactly 3 weeks then the screen went blank. New battery didn't fix it. Now I'm back to my $15 plastic caliper that's still going strong after 2 years. Anyone else have a digital tool crap out on them fast?

Had the exact same thing happen with a digital level last year.

Oh I bet that was a fun day. Nothing like relying on a digital level only to have it start blinking error codes at you while you're trying to hang a shelf. Mine decided to die mid-project and gave me a reading that was off by a solid 5 degrees. Ended up using a glass of water and a string just to get the job done.

lol "had the exact same thing happen" yeah okay but was it really that deep though? I mean a digital level dying is annoying sure but a glass of water and string? That's some next level MacGyver stuff for a shelf lol. I've had mine glitch out too but I just flipped it over, tapped it on the counter, and it worked fine again. Half the time people just don't calibrate them right or leave them in the sun too long. Not saying it's not frustrating but a 5 degree error sounds like user error not the tool tbh.
