Actually, layer color is just a slicer setting for visual help. It doesn't change the print itself. A color switch wouldn't cause a real print error. Good it made you look, but the check is what matters.
Yeah, the part about the check being what matters... my buddy had a printer that would show weird colors on the screen for a layer, but it was just the slicer being weird like you said. He almost stopped the print over it once. Thing is, his real problem was a tiny crack in the build plate he wasn't checking for. So the color thing just made him look closer, and he found the actual issue. Kind of a lucky mistake.
