The day I figured out dollar store tortillas actually hold up for enchiladas

I was standing in my kitchen last Tuesday staring at a soggy mess I made with cheap tortillas from the gas station. Got frustrated and grabbed a pack of the store brand flour tortillas from Dollar Tree on my lunch break instead. Wrapped them around some canned chicken and a can of enchilada sauce I had sitting around. They didn't fall apart after baking and the whole meal cost maybe $4. Has anyone else had luck with any other dollar store bread products holding up in recipes?

Gotta disagree with you there. Dollar store tortillas are basically cardboard with a sheen on them - no amount of sauce is going to save that texture. Plus, they're probably loaded with preservatives to sit on a shelf forever, so good luck digesting them.

Yeah I hear you on the dollar store ones being rough. I used to buy those out of desperation and they always cracked when I tried to fold them. What finally worked for me was getting the uncooked tortillas from the refrigerated section at Walmart. You just heat them in a dry pan for like 30 seconds each side and they puff up and get soft. They taste way closer to homemade and they don't have that weird plastic feel. Plus they're still cheap, like $2.50 for a pack of 10.
