The $1.25 seasoning packet math finally added up for me

Ngl, I always thought those taco seasoning packets were a waste until I priced out the spices at my local Dollar Tree in Tucson. Three packets make 3 pounds of taco meat for under $4 total, but buying individual spices to DIY costs me close to $8 even with coupons. Has anyone else run the numbers on other seasoning blends, or am I the last one to catch this?

Wait, you're telling me the Dollar Tree packets are actually cheaper than buying the spices separately? I priced out chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder at my local store last month and almost choked when the total hit $9.50. I've been making my own "fancy" taco blend for years thinking I was saving money. This is like finding out your favorite budget hack was the expensive option this whole time. I'm honestly a little mad about it, but also relieved because those packets are way easier than juggling six different jars every Tuesday.
