That cashier's one question about my canned corn stuck with me

At the Family Dollar on 5th Street, the lady at the register asked why I wasn't grabbing the name brand since it was only 30 cents more. I realized I couldn't actually tell her the store brand tasted any different in my chili recipe, I just assumed it did. Anyone else ever catch themselves avoiding dollar store cans without a real reason?

Hated on store brand everything for years, just assumed it was worse because my mom always bought name brand growing up. But last winter I grabbed a cheap can of corn from the dollar store when I was broke and in a rush, and honestly my chili tasted exactly the same. Now I buy the off brand for anything that's getting cooked or mixed into something else, saves me a few bucks every week for real. Only thing I still pay up for is canned tomatoes cause those can genuinely be watery and sad, but corn and beans? Nah, give me the cheap one every time.
