My Dollar Store Rice Cooker Burnt Everything Until I Did This One Thing
So I bought this tiny rice cooker at Dollar Tree for $5 back in March, and for three weeks straight every batch came out either crunchy or mush. I finally realized I was using the measuring cup from my old rice cooker instead of the plastic scoop that came with it, which totally threw off the water ratio. Has anyone else messed up a dollar store gadget just by using the wrong tool or measurement?

Six months of burnt dirt coffee?

That's a pretty simple mix up honestly. I spent like six months using the wrong size scoop for my office's coffee maker and couldn't figure out why every pot tasted like burnt dirt. Turns out the little plastic funnel that came with the crappy dollar store coffee maker was actually a measuring scoop for a different size filter. Once I just started using a regular tablespoon from my desk drawer, the coffee actually came out drinkable. Those tiny gadgets come with so many random plastic pieces that all look the same, I bet half the returns on cheap kitchen stuff are just people using the wrong doohickey.
