I finally got burned by those frozen chicken patties at Dollar Tree

I bought a bag of those frozen chicken patties for $1.25 last week thinking they would be a quick dinner. They looked fine in the package but after I cooked them the texture was all rubbery and weird. I ended up throwing half the bag away because they just tasted off. The seasoning was way too salty and it overwhelmed everything else. I tried putting them on a bun with lettuce and tomato but that didn't help. Save your dollar and get the canned chicken instead, that stuff actually works for tacos or casseroles. Has anyone else had a bad experience with their frozen meats?

Man those frozen dollar store meats are ALWAYS a gamble with texture I swear. I bought their breaded fish fillets once and they were like chewing on a sponge that had been sitting in salt water.

Try toasting them in a dry pan instead of microwaving or deep frying. I figured out that most of those cheap frozen meats come out way better if you cook them low and slow, like on a really gentle heat. The fish fillets in particular, they get that weird sponge thing from too much moisture getting trapped inside the breading. Let them thaw first too, that's crucial for the texture.
