Hot take: stop trusting canned nacho cheese sauce dates

I bought a $1.25 jar from Dollar Tree in March and used it last Tuesday, the 'best by' date said April but it smelled like feet after I opened it. Now I sniff every can before I dump it into my mac and cheese, has anyone else gotten burned by expired dollar store dairy?

Why are you even trusting a dollar store can of cheese sauce in the first place? I learned that lesson the hard way with a jar of salsa that looked fine but tasted like a science experiment. The date on the label is basically a suggestion, not a promise, especially when it comes to cheap dairy. My rule now is if the can is dented, dusty, or the lid pops weird when I open it, straight to the trash. You gotta smell it before you use it, every single time, no exceptions. Better to waste a buck than to ruin a whole box of mac and cheese or worse, your stomach.
