Dollar store canned chicken is actually good if you do this one thing

I always avoided the canned chicken at Family Dollar because I figured it'd be rubbery and gross. But I picked up a can of the Southern Home brand last month when I was out of fresh stuff and desperate. You gotta drain it, then shred it with a fork and pan fry it for like 3 minutes with some seasoning. Made decent chicken tacos that cost maybe 2 bucks total. Anybody else have luck with stuff you usually skip?

The part about pan frying it for a few minutes is exactly what I did too. I got the same brand from Family Dollar when I needed something quick for lunch. I drained it good, mashed it with a fork, and threw it in a hot pan with some chili powder and cumin. It came out way better than I expected, not mushy at all. I made little tacos with some cheap tortillas and hot sauce and it was a solid meal for under three bucks. I've bought it a few more times since then just to have on hand for busy nights.

Same here, I was really surprised how good it turned out with just a few spices and a hot pan.
