Dollar store bacon bits taste like plastic crumbles, learned the hard way

My coworker Janet told me to just buy the store brand bacon bits because they're all the same, but after adding them to my baked potato dinner the whole thing tasted like chemical smoke. Spent $1.25 on a jar that went straight in the trash. Anyone else find a dollar store brand that actually tastes like real bacon?

Man I used to be the same way, I'd grab whatever cheap bacon bits were on the shelf thinking they gotta be basically the same thing. But last month I tried the dollar store brand on a loaded baked potato and it was like eating salty cardboard with a hint of fake smoke flavor. Totally changed my mind. Now I'll spend the extra couple bucks on the real deal stuff from the regular grocery store, even if it means I have to skip the dollar store run. That chemical taste just ruins everything it touches, not worth it.

Wait have you tried the ones in the meat aisle not the spice section? I used to grab the little bags by the taco stuff and they were still kinda fakey. What finally worked for me was getting the real bacon pieces in the fridge section by the salad kits. Theyre like $3 but they actually crunch and taste like smoky meat instead of chemicals. I just toss em on my potatoes right before eating and theyre way better.
