Tried to save money by mixing my own drywall mud from powder instead of buying pre-mixed buckets
After a whole weekend of stirring and fighting lumps in the garage I ended up throwing half of it out and driving to Home Depot anyway so what was the point? Has anyone else had a DIY project that actually backfired like that?

...and I stood there in the garage with a spatula trying to scrape dried mud off my jeans thinking I just spent $8 on powder and another $15 on gas to go get the bucket anyway. My neighbor walked by and asked if I was making cookies, so that was my low point honestly. I would have saved time just buying the pre-mixed stuff from the start, but no, I had to be the guy who thinks he can outsmart the hardware store. How long do you think it takes for the shame to wear off?

Three days minimum, longer if you make eye contact with the neighbor.
