My water heater pilot light kept going out. Finally figured out it was a spider nest in the burner tube.

Oh man, that exact same thing happened to me last winter. I was pulling my hair out for weeks because the pilot light kept going out randomly. I thought it was a bad thermocouple or something mechanical so I almost called a plumber. Then I remembered reading about bugs getting in there so I took the burner tube off and sure enough, there was a big spider web with egg sacs inside. It was gross but super easy to clean out with a pipe cleaner and then the light stayed on fine. Now I make a habit of checking that tube every few months before cold weather hits.

Exactly what I found too after cleaning the burner tube with a pipe cleaner.
