Just realized my old laser level was way off after 10 years

I was hanging cabinets in my kitchen last Saturday and noticed the lines weren't matching up. Took out a new level I borrowed from my buddy in Nashville and found my old one was off by nearly a quarter inch over 6 feet. Had to redo all the marks and now I'm wondering how many other projects I messed up. Anyone else had a trusty tool betray them like that?

Thought mine was bulletproof too until I double checked and got humbled real quick.

Dude @maxpalmer totally nailed it, that humbling feeling is real. I had the same thing happen with a tape measure I'd been using for years. Thought I was the man until I checked it against a square and realized it was off by almost an eighth over 3 feet. Made me question every cut I'd ever made, like was I just bad at measuring or was it the tool this whole time?
