Just realized I spent $80 on paint samples for my kitchen cabinets and still picked wrong, peel and stick test squares would have saved me
So I finally got around to painting my oak kitchen cabinets after 3 years of staring at that ugly 90s honey color. I went to the store and bought 6 sample pots at $12 each, painted them on cardboard, taped them to the doors, and stared for 2 weeks. I picked a soft white, spent a weekend degreasing, sanding, priming, and rolling on 2 coats. After all that the white looked pink under my kitchen light and I hated it. A buddy asked why I did not just buy a $15 roll of peel and stick contact paper and stick squares on the doors to see them in real light. I did that after the fact with 4 more samples and the color I actually wanted was obvious in 10 minutes. So which side are you on, do samples on boards actually work or do you need the actual cabinet surface to judge it right?
