I used to think you could just slap drywall mud on any old wall until a job in a 1920s house in St. Louis.

Found that out the hard way too. Those old plaster walls are a whole different animal. You get cracks that move with the seasons and crumbly spots that just eat the mud. Makes you respect the old ways of building.

Wait, the cracks actually move? Like you can watch them open and close? That's wild (and honestly a little creepy). My old place just had the crumbly spots that turned into dust clouds if you looked at them wrong.
