Finally quit fighting with wallpaper paste after switching to the steamer method
I spent a whole weekend last year scraping dry wallpaper in this little bathroom in my 1940s house in Portland. My arms were killing me and I still had glue residue everywhere. Then my neighbor lent me her steam machine and I did the second room in like 2 hours. Has anyone else had the steamer change their whole approach to stripping walls?

The steamer was a total GAME CHANGER for me! I tried doing my kitchen the old way with a spray bottle and scraper and wanted to cry. That glue is NO JOKE. Once I got a steamer from a friend, the wallpaper practically fell off the walls by itself. I still had to do a little scraping on the stubborn spots but it was maybe 10 minutes instead of hours.

Buddy of mine tried the spray bottle method for days in his bathroom. He was about to give up and just paint over the wallpaper. Then his wife rented a steamer from the hardware store for like twenty bucks. He said the steam basically melted the glue and he had the whole room stripped in an afternoon.
