Vent: That 'fast' shelf install took me forever

I thought putting up some shelves would be easy, but measuring wrong wasted a whole day. Had to re-cut boards twice cause I didn't check my tools first. Now I tell ppl to skip the timeline and just enjoy the process, even if it takes a while. Tbh, the wait was annoying but the result is solid.

Totally agree with your point about enjoying the process. Rushing just means you miss small details that cost you later. I mean, how many times have we all assumed the tape measure was right without checking? Those extra cuts from rushing eat up more time than just slowing down from the start. Isn't it better to get it right once, even if it takes longer? The solid result at the end makes all that patience worth it.

Oh man, the double-check thing is so real. Ngl, for my last project I started marking my tape measure with a little pencil dot before I even cut. Sounds dumb but it saved me from those "wait did I read that right?" moments. Also I got in the habit of checking the stud finder twice because one time I nailed into a pipe and that was a nightmare. Honestly, slowing down those extra two minutes to confirm everything is the difference between a clean build and a do-over.

Last year I tried floating shelves in my kitchen. Took me three weekends to get them level. What part of measuring tripped you up the most? Was it the tape or the marks on the wall? I always double check my stud finder now. Your point about enjoying the process is key. Rushing just leads to more cuts.
