The day I stopped using a level and just eyeballed my shelf install
After spending 45 minutes trying to get a shelf perfectly level with a 6-foot level that kept slipping, I finally just hung it by eye and it came out straighter than any of the ones I carefully measured, has anyone else had a tool actually make things harder?

You said the level kept slipping and I get that completely. Sometimes fighting with a tool wastes more time than just trusting your own eyes. I've nailed stuff straight by eye more often than I'd care to admit.

Is that level actually straight itself, or are we just trusting a tool that could be bent?
