That basement flood in St. Louis taught me a HARD lesson about check valves
I was finishing my buddy's basement in St. Louis last spring when a backup from the city main sent 2 inches of sewage through his new drywall. The check valve I installed was a cheap plastic one from the hardware store and it failed completely when the pressure hit. Has anyone else had a check valve fail on them or did I just pick the wrong type?

Two inches of RAW sewage through new drywall? I would've LOST it.

Tbh that sewage would've been the least of my worries. I'd be more scared of what kind of critters were living in that drywall after it got soaked.
