Talking to my plumber neighbor changed how I fix leaky faucets.
My neighbor Mike saw me fighting with a dripping kitchen faucet last Saturday and just said, 'stop replacing the cartridge, just clean the seat.' I had been swapping out $15 cartridges every six months when all it needed was a $3 seat wrench and some CLR. Has anyone else found an easy fix they overlooked for way too long?

Three years of swapping cartridges before my neighbor showed me the sandpaper trick for the valve seat. @the_abby I wish I had known this sooner too, how hard was it to get the seat clean on your first try? That CLR soak really made a difference on my stubborn faucet.
