Shoutout to the $30 orbital sander I thought was a waste of money

Honestly, I fought with hand sanding a dresser for 3 hours last Tuesday before giving up and grabbing one from the hardware store. Has anyone found a better tool for stripping old varnish?

3 hours of hand sanding" sounds like actual torture. I saw a video where someone used a heat gun and a scraper for thick varnish, said it came off like butter. Might be worth a shot before you sand next time.

Heat guns can scorch the wood though.
