Rant: I spent $400 fixing a deck I should have just torn down
I noticed my back deck in Omaha was getting soft spots about two springs ago, so I figured I would just replace the boards and be done with it. Ended up replacing 14 boards, then found the joists were rotted too, and by the time I pulled the third one out the whole frame was basically mush. I burned $400 on lumber and screws plus two full weekends before I finally admitted the thing needed to come down. Has anyone else gone down this road, and how far do you go before you just start over?
