Picked pine over plywood for my garage workbench, wish I did it sooner

Had to choose between a sheet of 3/4 plywood or solid pine boards for a new workbench top. I went with pine because it was cheaper at about $38 total for the whole top. Sanded it down flat and gave it a few coats of boiled linseed oil. It dings easier than plywood but it's way easier to sand out the damage and it looks like a real bench now. Anyone else regret going the plywood route first?
