Painting my entire hallway convinced me that drop cloths are mostly pointless.
A quick wipe with a damp rag catches all the drips just fine.

Totally agree with you on that. Did my whole living room without a drop cloth last month. Just had a damp rag ready for any drips. It caught everything and was way faster. Those big cloths are such a pain to lay down. Never using them again for indoor painting.

Wait, you painted your whole living room, @val_chen16? Seriously, all of it? That's a crazy risk with countless things to wreck.

I had a similar thought until I hit a spot with textured ceiling above the trim and the rag couldn't keep up with the drips. Ended up with tiny paint flecks on the floor that I had to scrub off with a magic eraser later. Drop cloths are mostly pointless for walls, but I use a few cheap canvas ones just for the corners near the floor and baseboards now. Saves me the cleanup headache every time.
