My neighbor pointed at my PVC glue job and asked if I was in a hurry, now I question everything
So I replumbed the sink drain under my kitchen last fall with PVC and I was pretty proud of it. My neighbor Rick, who did 30 years of commercial pipe work, came over for a beer and just looked at my joints for a while. He asked if I was in a hurry when I glued them. I wasn't, but I pushed the fittings together and twisted them maybe a quarter turn like I saw online. He pulled one apart with his hands, it was that loose. He showed me you push and hold for a full 30 seconds and give a slight twist only a little, then don't touch it for at least 5 minutes. I redid all of it that weekend and spent another $14 on fittings I wasted. Here's my debate for you all though. Some guys say primer is a must on every joint, others say on new PVC you can skip it and just use the all in one cement. I've gone back and forth on this and I keep buying the separate primer out of fear. Do you primer every fitting or only on repairs?
