My Dad Said the Gutters Could Wait, Then the Basement Flooded During a 20 Minute Storm
Three years ago my dad swore the clogged gutters on his garage could wait until fall, so we spent that Saturday watching football instead. A week later a quick storm dumped rain for 20 minutes, water poured over the edge, and his basement took on 4 inches that ruined his old record collection. Now he wants me to help him install gutter guards this weekend, so has anyone found a type that actually keeps out pine needles without costing a fortune?
My own gutters are so bad right now that a family of birds moved in and I'm pretty sure they pay less rent than the pine needles do. From what I've heard the cheap mesh ones just let the needles weave through like a bad wig, so you gotta get the ones with a solid cover and a little gap for water. Costco has some decent ones that won't make your dad sell the record player he's still mourning.
