I finally listened to my dad about caulking before painting

He told me for years to run a bead of caulk along baseboards before rolling paint, and I always skipped it thinking it was extra work. Last month I did it on a bedroom in my house and the paint line looks perfect, no gaps at all. Anyone else have a simple tip they ignored forever that actually works?

Ha, I heard caulk-free gaps actually let the paint crack faster.
