Am I the only one who thought you had to use a ton of wood glue on every joint?
I was building a small bookshelf and my brother-in-law in Phoenix pointed out the squeeze-out on my last project looked like a spider web. Now I use a thin bead and clamp it tight. What's the biggest mistake you've seen people make with adhesives?

My first glue-up looked like a modern art project.

Oh man, the "spider web" look is SO real. I used to think more glue meant a stronger hold, and my first table had these crazy glue icicles hanging off it. It was a total mess. I see that all the time, people just globbing it on straight from the bottle. @matthewgonzalez is right, it turns into abstract art fast. The best tip I got was that a thin, even line is all you need, the clamp does the real work. Now I keep a damp rag handy to wipe the squeeze-out right away.
