Warning: my 2 year old asphalt patch turned into a soupy mess after 3 inches of rain in Raleigh
I patched a 3 foot crack near my garage last spring with a cold pour bottle from the hardware store and felt pretty good about it. Then last month we got 3 inches of rain in one night in Raleigh and the next morning the patch was soft, sticky, and sliding downhill toward the street. I scooped out what I could with a flat shovel, let the crack dry for two sunny days, and now I'm staring at a hole that looks worse than the original crack ever did. My neighbor thinks I should have used hot pour or at least cleaned the crack out with a wire brush first instead of just dumping the bottle in. Anyone here had a cold patch fail like this, and did you go back with hot pour or something else?
