Why does nobody talk about measuring your chair height before bolting a monitor arm to the desk?
I mounted a Vivo arm on my Ikea desk two months ago and it pulled the particle board top into a dip, so now my screen leans forward no matter how tight I crank the clamp. What tipped me off was a $12 steel plate from the hardware store in Tacoma, the guy there said the MDF tops on those desks are hollow and you need to spread the load or add a backer. I ended up cutting a 6 by 8 inch piece of plywood and putting it under the clamp, and the sag stopped. Is plywood enough long term or should I just get a solid wood top?
