Tried using a 2x4 as a monitor stand - bad idea
Last month I got tired of my cheap plastic monitor stand wobbling, so I cut a 2x4 to size and sanded it down. Looked great for about a week, but then I noticed my screen slowly tilting forward because I didn't account for the wood warping. Learned that even dry lumber from the hardware store can bend under weight over time. Anyone else try a quick wood project that backfired like this?

You should've used pressure-treated lumber or at least sealed it, kiln-dried stuff still breathes and moves with humidity. Did you check the moisture content before building?

Oh man, this reminds me of when my uncle built a whole deck without checking anything and it warped like crazy after one rainy season. @dakotam17 is totally right about the moisture check though, I never even thought about that before.
