The zip tie trick for cable management that took me 4 hours to figure out
So I spent last Sunday trying to clean up the mess of wires under my desk. I have a monitor, a PC, some speakers, and a lamp all plugged into the same power strip. I watched a video about using zip ties to bundle cables together, but nobody mentioned you gotta plan the route first. I ended up cutting and redoing the whole thing three times because the cables were too short or in the way of my legs. It took me 4 hours to realize you just clip the ties loosely, test the setup, and then tighten them. Has anyone else had a simple project like this turn into a whole afternoon project? What did you miss the first time around?

All that snipping and leftover plastic bits everywhere is exactly why I switched to velcro straps instead.

Oh man, the loose-clip-first trick is a game changer but nobody tells you! I spent way too much time on a similar project with my TV setup, I got so frustrated I just left the zip ties dangling for a week. What really slowed me down was not thinking about airflow, all those tight bundles can trap heat if you're not careful with power bricks or anything that gets warm. I ended up having to redo everything again just to leave gaps for the bigger adapters. At least you figured it out in one day, I had zip tie remnants on my floor for months because I kept snipping them wrong.
