That random comment about monitor arms finally clicked for me

I was at a friend's place last Sunday and he casually mentioned how his neck pain went away after he switched to a gas spring arm. I've been using the same two stacked books as a monitor stand for like 2 years now. Finally got a $40 arm off Amazon yesterday and installed it in 20 minutes. Has anyone else noticed a big difference just from getting the screen at the right height?

The neck pain relief is real... I had a similar setup with textbooks before and my shoulders were always hunched up. Getting the top of the screen right at eye level changed everything for me, no more tilting my head down to read code or emails. The cable management on the arm was actually kind of satisfying too, I tucked everything into the channel and now my desk looks way cleaner. Just make sure to tighten the tilt tension enough so the screen doesn't slowly droop over a few days, that was my only hiccup.
