Remember when cable management meant zip ties and hope?

I used to just stuff all my cords behind the desk and pray nobody looked, but last year I finally spent $12 on some adhesive channels and actually routed everything proper, has anyone else made the switch from just hiding things to actually organizing them?

I saw a thread on another forum where a guy claimed he saved 40 minutes of troubleshooting time after he organized his cables because he could actually trace which cord went where. That clicked with me because I've spent way too long unplugging random wires just to find the right one. For me, the adhesive channels were worth it since I don't swap hardware much, but I kept the zip ties loose enough to slide out if I need to.

$12 for adhesive channels sounds like a solid deal. I actually went the opposite direction a few years back. I bought a big roll of velcro tape and just started wrapping each cord individually, then bundling them loosely behind my desk. It's not perfect, but it's easy to undo when I need to swap something out. All those fixed channels and zip ties work fine until you need to add a new monitor or move your tower, and then you're cutting everything apart. I'd rather have a tangled mess that I can actually change than a perfect setup I'm scared to touch.
