Pro tip: skip the $38 adhesive clips, a $7 roll of velcro strips did better on my setup
I want to push back on the idea that you NEED those fancy adhesive cable clips everyone posts about. I spent $38 on a pack of 60 name brand clips for my desk at home, and inside of 3 weeks about a third of them popped off the underside of my particle board top, which left sticky gunk I had to scrape with a putty knife and rubbing alcohol. So I ripped them all out and grabbed a $7 roll of velcro strips from the hardware store down the street, the kind that comes in a 15 foot roll, and I wrapped every cable run into a bundle and strapped it right to the leg frame and the back edge. 6 months later not one strap has let go, and when I swapped out my keyboard I just peeled the velcro open and re-wrapped it in like 20 seconds. The clips look cleaner in photos I'll admit that, but they are a one time commitment and mine cost me 5 times more for a worse result. If you already have the clips and they are holding fine, great, but if you are about to order some, try a cheap velcro roll first and save the money. What is everyone using to keep bundles stuck to a real wood top, because I am worried the velcro adhesive will do the same peeling thing eventually?
