My buddy swore by zip ties for cable management, what a disaster

So my friend Dave kept pushing the idea that zip ties are the best way to clean up desk cables because they're cheap and fast. I used like 20 of them on my setup last month and now I can't add or change a single wire without snipping everything open. Turns out he never had to swap out a monitor cable mid-week. Has anyone else had better luck with velcro straps instead?

Switched to velcro straps after the same exact headache with zip ties on my PC setup. I bought a big roll of the industrial velcro tape with the sticky back and cut strips to size. Now I can just undo a cable, swap it out, and rewrap in seconds without any snipping or pulling. Plus if you ever need to remove a cable for good, the velcro comes off clean instead of leaving those sharp little nubs from cut zip ties. Totally worth the extra few bucks.

Gotta disagree here... zip ties are way more permanent and that's actually a good thing for cable management. Once you cinch 'em down, everything stays put and you don't have to worry about velcro loosening up over time from vibration or heat. Plus that sticky backing on velcro tape can leave a nasty residue if you ever peel it off, which is just as bad as those little nubs you're complaining about.
