I spent two years drilling my monitor arm mount holes crooked...

Last week I finally mounted a second monitor and realized my whole setup was leaning 3 degrees to the left. I use a level for everything else in my life but never thought to check the desk. The worst part is I drilled the holes with a hand drill freehanded like a fool. Has anyone else caught themselves skipping a simple step for years?

I just kept stacking shims under the desk legs to fix it instead of just redrilling one hole" - that got me thinking. How many shims did you actually stack before you realized you were just making the problem worse? Because I've been there, man. You start with one tiny shim, then two days later you got a whole stack of cardboard and old business cards under one leg. At what point did you look at that pile and just say "okay this is STUPID" but kept going anyway?

Three degrees off sounds about right for my setup too. I actually measured my desk last week and found it's 2.5 degrees off from level across the whole surface. My tower sits on this little riser and now I'm pretty sure the case fan is grinding against something because the whole thing is tilted. I used a bubble level on the monitor arm bracket and felt like a complete idiot standing there watching it slide. The worst part is I just kept stacking shims under the desk legs to fix it instead of just redrilling one hole. At least your freehand holes give it character, mine just look like someone sneezed while measuring.
