Watched a guy at the Walmart auto center swap brake pads in 25 minutes, made me rethink my whole Saturday routine
Stopped by the Walmart on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie for wiper blades and ended up watching a tech named Dave do front pads on a Civic in about 25 minutes flat. He never pulled the caliper bracket off, just unbolted the bottom slide pin, swung the caliper up, and had the old pads out before I finished picking out my blades. I had been setting aside a full afternoon for my own pad swap, jack stands, torque wrench, the whole deal. Turns out the job is way simpler than I built it up to be, and I only need a 14mm wrench and a C-clamp to push the piston back. Has anyone else watched a pro do a job and felt dumb about how long they take?
