Warning: My brake job almost killed me on I-95 last Tuesday
I did a full pad and rotor swap on my 2016 Civic last weekend and thought I torqued everything right. Three days later on I-95 near Baltimore, my front right caliper bolt backed out at 65 mph and sent me into the shoulder. Turns out I forgot to use Loctite on the bracket bolts. Has anyone else had a bolt back out after a DIY brake job?

Oh man, that is terrifying! I'm glad you made it out okay. I mean, I did something similar on my old Toyota a few years back. I started using a torque wrench and marking the bolts with a paint pen after torquing them, just so I could see if anything moved. Also, I switched to the little dab of blue Loctite on all caliper bracket bolts, it's never let me down since. Maybe it's just me but a torque wrench was the best money I spent on tools.

Ngl, that's overkill for a daily driver. Tighten em by feel like everyone's grandpa did, they're just caliper bolts not connecting rod bolts.
