Tbh, I almost set my driveway on fire trying to change brake fluid.

Last month in my garage, I was using a cheap $15 hand pump to bleed the lines on my Civic and spilled a bunch of DOT 4 on the hot exhaust manifold. Honestly, it started smoking like crazy and I had to grab the fire extinguisher. What's the safest, idiot-proof way to do this solo without making a huge mess?

Yeah, I learned that lesson the hard way too. I once used a turkey baster from the kitchen, which was a huge mistake. Now I just use the old two-liter bottle and clear tube method, and I make sure the car is stone cold before I even open the hood.

Idiot-proof" is a myth, you just gotta be less of an idiot. That hand pump is fine, just don't spill fluid on hot parts.
