Spent $180 on a cheap paint sprayer, wish I had done it 3 years ago

My neighbor borrowed my torque wrench to do his brakes and stripped a lug nut because he didn't check the setting. I used to think a $40 beam style was plenty, but after watching that I bought a click type for $65 and it paid for itself last week. I did my front rotors and pads, torqued everything to spec, and the wheel didn't wobble on the highway at 70 mph. The beam wrench was fine for me, but it's too easy to misread if you're in a hurry or the light is bad. Has anyone else had a close call with a borrowed tool that made you upgrade your own kit?

My buddy borrowed my torque wrench once and I found out he used it as a hammer to tap a brake rotor off. That was the day I learned some tools are just too sacred to share, lol. Now I keep a spare cheapo one just for the neighbors.
