Pro tip: I cleaned my throttle body for the first time in 80k miles and the idle is way smoother now.

My 2012 Civic was starting to have a rough idle, especially when cold. I took off the air intake hose, sprayed a whole can of CRC cleaner on the throttle plate and inside the bore, and wiped it with a clean rag. After putting it back together and letting the car relearn the idle for about 10 minutes, the shaking stopped completely. Has anyone else seen a big change from just this one simple job?

Bet you just fixed a vacuum leak too.

Yeah, cleaning the throttle body made a huge difference on my old truck too. I had the same rough idle, and it was all carbon buildup on the plate keeping it from closing right. @burns.sage might be onto something with the vacuum leak idea, because after I cleaned mine, a small hose I'd knocked loose was causing a new hiss. Fixed that and it ran like new. It's crazy how such a simple fix can smooth everything out.
