My uncle told me to stop checking my oil when the engine is cold and it finally made sense
My uncle has been doing his own oil changes in his garage in Tulsa for like 25 years, and last weekend he asked why I always checked my dipstick first thing in the morning before even starting the car. He said the reading is way off when all the oil has drained back into the pan overnight, and I should pull the stick about 5 minutes after shutting the engine off so it shows the real level. So do you guys check yours warm or cold, and did anyone else get taught the cold way first?

Totally get the confusion, my dad taught me cold too before I knew better.
