My neighbor in Phoenix saw me struggling with a flat and gave me a tip I still use
It was a hundred degrees out and I was trying to get the lug nuts off my Civic with the cheap wrench from the trunk. He walked over from his yard, watched for a second, and just said, 'You're fighting it. Put the wrench on and stand on it.' I told him I was worried about breaking something. He laughed and said, 'The car's on the ground, not a jack. It won't move. Your whole body weight is the best breaker bar you've got.' I did it and the nut popped right off. That was five years ago and I've done it that way every time since. It saved me from buying a big tool I didn't need. Anyone else have a simple trick that saved them a bunch of money on tools?

That whole body weight trick is a lifesaver. I use a piece of pipe over my wrench handle for extra leverage instead of buying a breaker bar.
