My cousin in Milwaukee swears his car runs better after he 'talks nice to the engine' for 5 minutes before starting it.

I tried it as a joke, but my old Civic's rough idle actually smoothed out after a week of this weirdness. Has anyone else found a totally silly trick that somehow works?

Wait, you did it for a whole WEEK? That's some serious commitment to the bit. I would've given up after the first day of feeling like a crazy person talking to my dashboard.
