My brother in law swore by the $15 Walmart code reader, and now I owe him $80 for the shop visit
He plugged it in at Thanksgiving in Des Moines and cleared my check engine light without reading the code, so I drove around for two months thinking it was fixed until the cat converter died. Should I even trust those cheap scanners or was this just me being dumb?
